2016 ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp Wraps With Rascal Flatts Live at the Opry

Program Serves Those With Williams Syndrome

The seventh annual ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp wrapped with a big standing ovation live at the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday night (June 28). Closing a hit-filled set with Rascal Flatts, 30 campers were welcomed onstage to perform “Happy Together,” an original song they wrote with Eric Paslay and hit-maker Ross Copperman last Thursday (June 23).

The annual week-long music enrichment program serves those with Williams Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects approximately 20,000 people in the U.S.

Campers got to hang with RaeLynn at Vanderbilt Hospital’s Seacrest Studios, sing karaoke with Montgomery Gentry, visit the Bluebird Café with Maren Morris and meet Maddie & Tae at the Wildhorse Saloon. They even got to record “Happy Together” at Ocean Way Studios with Copperman and Carrie Underwood.

Individuals with Williams syndrome suffer from mild to severe cardiovascular disorders, developmental delays and learning disabilities. But they are also born with extraordinary gifts. They are very friendly and have a special relationship with music. Funded by ACM Lifting Lives, the camp partners with Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities to study the powerful impact music has on those with the condition.
